tkHylafax - GUI for Hylafax

HylaFAX  User Guide:
graphical interface (tkhylafax)

What is tkhylafax

tkhylafax is a simple Tcl/Tk graphical interface to Hylafax. By using tkhylafax, you have the ability to send a fax with selected options, and remove fax jobs. Currently not all functionality is supported. In addition, a simple rolodex feature is supported to add, modify, and delete fax numbers from your personal fax database. Also, a batch feature allows the same files to be faxed to multiple destinations.

To be able to use rolodex capability (phone book, batch fax sending):

  1. create a directory, for example:
    ~/.tkhylafax
  2. in this dir create files (empty), for example:
    ~/.tkhylafax/faxnumbers
    ~/.tkhylafax/faxaliases
  3. setup environment variables FAXNUMBERS and FAXALIASES, for example, in bash:
    export FAXNUMBERS=$HOME/.tkhylafax/faxnumbers
    export FAXALIASES=$HOME/.tkhylafax/faxaliases

To start graphical front-end:
Run tkhylafax &

Note: tkHylafax requires the sendfax and faxcover utilities in the Hylafax package. Install and complete the full Hylafax server configuration for a stand-alone machine or network fax server; install both Hylafax and tkHylafax on any networked fax clients and configure as above.
