Note: the main apps below (portal and discussion forums) are currently disabled during the server upgrade; they're still broken in the new Zope and Linux OS environment, but I hope to get them both working again shortly. Most of my recent development efforts have either been related to Gentoo or school, since I have a brand new meteorology course to support for Fall 2008. Lastly, the reunion info below was for the previous reunion several years ago (too many to count ;) so it's really not very useful anymore except as an archive of sorts. I always wondered why we never got bigger than MyFace...
This is (was) the free alternative to the crass commercialism of the classmates.com site. I don't know about you, but I refuse to pay an annual fee just so I can email someone (even if I haven't seen them since high school or college). Between my 2 offices, school, and home, I already get plenty of email...
The server was upgraded again, and the Portal isn't working right now. No need to report any problems. Thanks.
There are no main parts anymore.
(old) Reunion Info - The postcards are out, with the following info: The Dinner - Dance is Saturday, August 17, in the Baja Room at Marina Village. The picnic is the followng day at Playa Pacifica on Mission Bay. More details can be found on the PHHS portal calendar. (sorry, but the calendar's temporarily down. Chalk it up to language evolution).
If you have any questions, there's nobody to contact except me; sorry. Please use the feedback form (or send email to webmaster at the URL of this page).
The CMF portal provides each member with their own home folder, where you can publish your own documents, pictures, whatever, as well as keep a favorites list of portal content, etc. You can even choose your own skin (there're only three right now). The content types also include calendar events, and news items, so check there for reunion info and updates. All content is automatically cataloged by the portal and is searchable, etc. Whoever publishes a piece of content owns it, and it's private until published.
The SquishDot discussion forums are similar to SlashDot, and you can post things on different topics (in either plain text or html) or reply to a specific posting. We don't have any topics defined yet, so ideas are welcome (topics are how the forum indexes the contents for searching, etc).
Here are some links to more detailed info on the portal software (ie, Zope and CMF). It's really one of the coolest free software technologies out there (as far as the web goes anyway).
I'm still working on several things, so more features, such as a calendar and photo-folders (a photo album kind of thing), will be added over time. Please let me know if you want to participate in the development of this site. The only limit is your imagination...
